WEEK 16/17 UPDATE:

Plankton is MOVING (well, he has been moving for weeks but I FELT IT!!!)

And we painted the nursery last weekend (actually Hubby did it, but I helped with the wallpaper). It's adorable! Plankton will LOVE it. And there are no whales so he/she is safe.....HA HA HA HA

We have our sonogram scheduled for August 4th and if Plankton isn't shy we'll know if it's a boy or girl and I can finally have my contest :-)

All you mommies and aunties and grandmas, please post the "things I could not live with out" in the comments. We are getting ready to register and there is so much silliness out there it's hard to know what we will really need and use. We are going to use gently used items as much as possible to reduce Plankton's "foot print", but we are looking forward to a few new things too.

I am off for a MUCH needed pre-natal massage (had an Chiropractic adjustment this morning)...

That is too adorable. Not being a mommy, I still have to say the thing that baby can't live without is a knitted sweater from Aunt Tasha!

18 grandkids - all the Mommies threw out the Diaper Genie. A swing can be a lifesaver - or a get thru dinner device. A glider rocker is wonderful for Mommy.

The only "baby" thing we still have around after 18 years is the big, solid, rocking chair my parents bought for us when Alex was born. I still love it!

LOVE! :)

The one thing my BFF gives everyone for baby showers is Boudreaux's Butt Paste. Not being a mom myself, I can't vouch for it, but all my mommy friends swear by it. Get the really big tub, and if you have to use it, don't be shy about it..just glop the stuff on. :D

Boudreaux's IS the best! Diaper Genie IS the worst, and a good quality glider is worth it's weight in gold. (Definitely add it to your registry and make sure it's a good one. Since this is your first, and speaking from experience, may not be your last...it' worth it to have a good one! The reclining ones are great!)
What I couldn't live without? Someone else to clean my house for the first few months!!! :)

I agree on the rocker - that is a must I still have the one from when I was born that my GRANDPARENTS rocked me in. Also I used a lot of A&D ointment on the bottom and the face for their baby acne (it even works on blemishes for mom too). Never had a Diaper Genie - so I can't say on that. I couldn't live without the Baby swing or the jumpy chair - those were both very important to my boys!!

The mural is AWESOME!!!!

as a loving god mother, i got a swing (it had a sort of bed thingy and a chair for when she got older. o, the swing was for my house. i covered the mattress with diaper pad and then a satin pillow case...well, i had to start her off right! it was the best present her mom said anyone gave her! nights off from being a mom for some time to be a wife. my god daughter and i love the swing bed and later seat. so i would say, besides the swing, you need some good knitters to baby sit after all the outlaws have gone home.

Okay, as a mom of twins the things I wouldn't have done without....

baby swing
baby gym
something to "wear" baby with (we had a baby Bjorn, but slings are great, too, and you can nurse with baby in the sling.

and a good quality breast pump. Hand pumps just won't cut it, don't buy that used, not all the parts can be sterilized well.

The Boudreaux's works pretty good, but a 50/50 mix of A&D and Desitin works better... Everything Balm works really well too.

I second and third not getting a Diaper Genie. We used a Diaper Champ, it uses any trash bag, so you can buy the really cheep ones.

I still have my glider rocker, too. :^) It's in my room and I knit in it now.

Also, if you are going with disposable diapers check out Diapermart Super Warehouse. http://www.diapermartwhse.com/ (It's also where we bought cribs) There is one in Garland and one on mockingbird... come to think of it, that may be a bit far for you... but you'll save about 20% over name brand diapers.
